Eid ul-fitr

Aku rindu kamu

In Malaysia we used to hear or write the word Aidilfitri although the English/ posh/original version of the word is written as Eid ul-fitr, It feels more natural to me if I write or said it as Aidilfitri though. I love to hear the word Aidilfitri and I cant remember greeting my late grandma/grandpa/ or anyone EVER using the word Eid ul-fitr in Malaysia. My brother, Along was born on the 7th day of Shawal and named Eidil…not Fitr …..but Rez……hehehe.

Selamat hari raya Aidilfitri. Maaf zahir bathin....

and that is the wish that feels close to my heart :)

How time flies and we are already on the 7th day of Aidilfitri. I swear I can feel the days  moving faster now compared to during the fasting month of Ramadhan.

Nothing much happens during eid/raya right here in Manchester. I miss the raya environment in SA and KL, the many open house invitations we used to go to…the duit raya (gift in cash), but after 21 days of fasting here, I decided that I should celebrate it with the spirit of winning (longer hrs of fasting period since its summer now and the effort to cook for iftar for the four of us since there were no food sold daily as in bazaar Ramadhan back home). To top it all, I am able to fight all the negative  and I am being grateful and thankful to God and to appreciate the things that I have.

We didn’t cook all the extras when celebrating raya, like the eating feast that we normally have in Malaysia. I lost my grandma four months ago….and another grandma is lying sick in a clinic here after a joint replacement surgery……
We cooked and baked!
There were no lemang. Mom made  pulut panggang wrapped in alum foil to substitute our favourite  lemang. There was nasi kacang, fish curry and veges in mayo.

I made two cookies, Choc chip and cornflakes cookies. And baked a choc and a fruit cake .

Talking about Malaysia, I am proud to be a Malaysian, and that our country has achieved 54 years of independence. I am blessed to be a citizen of such a nice country where everyone can live in harmony  and if there is a Malaysian who does not feel the same way I do my advice is, go visit  countries……( I think I shouldn’t name it here), and you will know what I mean. I have done that and you have no idea how much I am grateful to be born in Malaysia.

Finally, I would like to wish everyone,

Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Maaf Zahir dan Batin.
Bila tiba musim perayaan Aidilfitri macam ni, maka sana sini akan muncul gadis - gadis berbaju kurung/kebaya/kebarung.
Gugur jantung.....
cair  perasaan...Si jejaka melihat mereka……

sepertimana aku....
melihat jejaka Melayu tampan berbaju Melayu....
Aku rindu ITU...
DAN…
Aku rindu kamu….
